It should be noted that although the Authority has decided not to make Statements of Principles concerning obesity for the purposes of the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986 (the VEA) because obesity is not a "disease" as defined in section 5D of the VEA, it has determined Statements of Principles concerning morbid obesity (which is generally defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or more except in people aged less than 18 years of age).
