Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 (MRCA) and Military Rehabilitation and Compensation (Consequential and Transitional Provision) Act 2004

This new legislation which comes into effect from 1 July 2004, will extend the use of Statements of Principles as determined by the Repatriation Medical Authority to "members" as defined in the new MRCA. In preparation for this change, the Authority has reviewed its forms and templates to reflect the relevant changes. Plans are also in place to broaden the Authority's consultative processes to include representatives from Defence and organisations representing Defence personnel.

Veterans' Entitlements Amendment (Electronic Delivery) Act 2004

Recent amendments to the VEA in relation to method of lodgement for investigation requests, s196E(2A) refers, have been considered by the Authority. The Chairperson determined that at this time there would be no change to the current method of lodgement, that is, by non-electronic means.
