At its meeting of 25th September, 2001 the RMA:

    [N.B. - This concludes the previously advertised investigations into osteoarthrosis and acute lymphoid leukaemia.]

These Statements of Principles are expected to appear in the Government Notices Gazette of 17 October 2001.

  • Concluded its investigation into Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) with the issuing of a declaration. This declaration appeared in the Government Notices Gazette of 3 October 2001. The RMA formed the view that MCS is not a "disease" as defined in section 5D of the Act.

Please be advised that recent amendments to the Veterans' Entitlements Act concerning requests for investigations have necessitated changes to the RMA forms used when requesting an Investigation/Review of a Statement of Principles in relation to a particular kind of injury or disease.

  • Professor Heller has resigned from the RMA to take up an overseas position as Professor of Public Health at the University of Manchester, UK.
  • The Minister has appointed Professor John Kaldor to replace Professor Heller effective from 2 August, 2000 until 1 February, 2003. Professor Kaldor is Professor of Epidemiology, Deputy Director of the National Centre in HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research, Sydney, Australia
